This egg paratha wrap recipe is a classic breakfast in Pakistan & India and for good reason. It's delicious, cheesy and easy; basically a perfect breakfast.

I love having this for breakfast because its so easy to make and tastes so good. It's like a morning treat but without much effort. As I was editing this post and video, I started craving it so I made it for suhoor (pre-fasting meal in Ramadan) and it was great.

There are so many variations of egg paratha recipes across the subcontinent and each one is just delicious as the next.

A classic combo in my family is adding onions, tomato, cilantro, green chilli and red chilli powder to eggs. We do this for omelettes, and scrambled eggs. If you haven't tried it, you're missing out because it adds so much flavour.

Ingredients for the Egg Paratha Recipe

  • Eggs - obviously
  • Paratha - I use homemade but you can use store-bought or even tortillas
  • Cream - You can also use some milk or water in the eggs
  • Salt - You need flavour
  • Pepper & Red chilli powder - You need flavour x2
  • Onion - I love the flavour it adds but you can leave it out
  • Tomatoes - Again, optional but I love the flavour
  • Cilantro - or parsley
  • Cheese of your choice - I've used mozzarella, gouda, havarti, cheddar and they all taste great. You can use sliced cheese or grated, it doesn't matter

Filling ideas

This egg paratha wrap is super versatile and you can add any fillings you desire and whatever you have in your fridge.

  • Bacon
  • Avocado
  • Tomatoes
  • Spinach
  • Feta (add less salt if using feta)
  • Any meat or cured meats
  • The world is your pickle

Tips to making the Egg Paratha Wrap

  • Heat the pan properly - Having some patience and letting the pan heat up properly before you add the egg mixture makes a difference. The egg is won't to stick to the pan and will come off properly
  • Using a plate to flip - I get scared flipping the egg and paratha over sometimes so I use a plate to help me get it in one piece. Once youve placed the paratha on and are ready to flip, place a plate on top. While holding the plate to secure it in place, flip the pan over. The egg and paratha will be in the plate, egg side up. Slide it back into the pan and continue as normal

Happy Cooking!

Ingredients

  • 2 - large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon - cream
  • ¼ teaspoon - salt
  • ⅛ teaspoon - chilli powder
  • - black pepper
  • 1-2 tablespoon - chopped onion
  • 1-2 tablespoon - chopped tomato
  • 1 tablespoon - cilantro
  • 1 - paratha (or tortilla)
  • 2 slices - you cheese of choice or add grated cheese

Instructions

  • Whisk the eggs, cream and spices together in a bowl.
  • Add in the tomatoes, onion and cilantro.
  • Heat oil in a large pan (roughly the size of your paratha) on medium low and add in the egg mixture once properly heated. Cover and let cook until almost set.
  • Once the egg is almost cooked, place the paratha on top and flip over. I like to place a large plate on it and flip the pan over it so it makes it easier to flip all in one piece, without the fear of breaking.
  • Add the cheese and whatever fillings you would like (bacon, avocado, veggies,) and turn both sides onto the filling, like you would do to a wrap.
  • Add some additional oil or butter if you would like and let the wrap crisp up. Flip and crisp up the other side as well.
  • Enjoy!
